Five simple and healthy ways to eat Brussels Sprouts


Winter season is on top. One of the healthiest vegetable of the season is Brussels sprouts. Mosaic Hotels Executive Chef Vijayant Rawat recommends highly to its healthy, filling and versatile option. He presences five easy dishes to bring a new flavor in Brussels sprouts into your everyday eating: Here it comes in tasty shades of salty, sweet or roasted to soft perfection.

Brussels sprout Salad with fresh walnuts and apple
The traditional apple can be a good combination with Brussels sprouts. Mixing of mustard in the Brussels sprouts would be a standard procedure until it is flavored up with spicy honey mustard. It is an easy and healthy salad with the addition of apple and walnuts to make it a complete meal. Drizzle two tablespoons of olive oil. If it’s not spicy enough, add the additional spicy honey mustard.

Roasted Brussels sprouts with mint and jalapeno
This recipe is sweet, sour, spicy and salt and that will be the dressing. The addition of fresh herbs, bright chili creates a beautiful presentation, and the mix of pan-frying and roasting of Brussels sprouts creates an irresistible crunchy outside and soft inside. It can be served alongside soup. Spice things up, by adding jalapeno, using in place of regular, and throwing in a handful of mint. 

Cinnamon Roasted Brussels sprouts with Toasted Almonds
A mixture of butter, salt, pepper, Brussels sprouts and a handful of other ingredients are all it takes to create this recipe so delicious. The addition of cinnamon makes this Brussels sprouts recipe very unique. Maple syrup tends to be the go-to sprout sweetener, but cinnamon works well the same. Add dried cranberries and sliced toasted almonds for tart and crunchy additions that pack extra antioxidants and healthy fats. It will take only 35 minutes to prepare the dish.

Warm Brussels Sprout, Bacon and Spinach Salad
Cook the bacon over moderate heat until it is crisp. Add the cut leeks and sautĂ© for 2 minutes. Raise the heat to moderately high; add the Brussels sprouts with the seeds. Stir, for one to two minutes, or until the sprouts are tender and light golden. Remove the skillet from the heat, stir in the oil, the sugar, the vinegar, and add the spinach. Spice up the salad with pepper and sprinkle it with the bacon, to spice it up.This tasty salad or side is a great way to get your stomach fill. This is an easy yet delicious recipe that takes little time to put together.  

Brussels sprouts Pizza
Using fresh Brussels sprouts is preferred naturally, but if not available, frozen Brussels sprouts may be used instead. If using frozen Brussels sprouts, it has to drain excess liquid that is rendered while cooking the sprouts. The crust is made from Italian seasoning. Delicious Brussels sprouts pizza then topped with caramelized onions, spicy lentils with poached eggs. Half cup of white balsamic vinegar and red pepper flakes adds an extra flavor and spice up the dish.
